learners to the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS) - GB’s regulatory framework being developed to improve the technical performance,
reliability, and customer outcomes of heat networks.
Developed in response to
regulatory reforms and extensive industry consultation, HNTAS will set mandatory
minimum technical standards and will offer a structured assurance and
certification process for new and existing heat networks. The Introduction to
Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme course outlines the scheme's background, proposed structure, and practical implementation, and is essential for all
professionals involved in the design, delivery, or ongoing operation of heat networks.
As the first in a series of HNTAS training modules, this course provides a foundation for understanding the proposed scheme’s key components, defined roles, and assessment pathways ahead of regulation coming into force. It also includes technical overviews of major heat network elements such as Energy Centre, District and Communal Distribution Networks, Substations, Consumer Connections, and Consumer Heat Systems — offering a broader understanding of how HNTAS would apply across an entire network.Disclaimer: the following training has been
developed ahead of the Government’s consultation on Heat Networks Technical
Standards. This training is intended to provide background context to HNTAS to
facilitate understanding of the proposed scheme, in its current state of
development. Proposals within the training are subject to further change
following consultation and should not be considered as fixed at this stage.
Where required, updated courses highlighting where content has changed will be
made available to attendees once proposals have been consulted on and are
finalised.Who Should Take This
